Into the forest & fauna sessions

 Join me for a family photography session in the woods and the wildflowers.  I want to capture you just being yourselves in all your messy grass-stained, tangly and tumultuous glory. I’m here to tell your family’s story through photography in gorgeous Surrey locations, offering the chance for a few hours of fun and closeness together and an artistic end product that’s full of heart.

Think of me as a fly on the wall. Unposed, quiet and unobtrusive photojournalism. Capturing a couple of hours in your life in the forest, streams, bracken and flowers. Each session is 100% tailored to you and the possibilities are endless. You can just ‘be’ in nature and I will quietly document it.

I am awkward and nervous in front of the camera. Is this for me?
My sessions are really relaxed with gentle prompts but no posing. I promise you will relax into the session. Most of my clients say the same thing and you really wouldn’t know it from their final gallery!
I feel self-conscious about parts of my body - how can you help?
This is completely natural. It is my job to take beautifully lit photographs in a flattering way. I do an in-depth client questionnaire where you can share anything you would like me to know. I also guide clients with styling so they can choose clothing which makes them feel amazing.
How long should I allow for a session?
I always suggest that you leave at least 2 hours for your session and to not have plans for afterwards. This enables you to fully relax and be present and means that you don’t feel at all rushed.
What if it rains?
The British weather is famously unpredictable. Sessions in sunshine, on overcast days and with stormy skies work but rain is just really unpleasant for everyone. I carefully watch the forecast and agree a backup date with you so that we can change the date if rain is forecast. This will make the session so much more enjoyable for you.
What time of day do sessions take place?

I recommend that outdoor photography sessions take place at sunrise or just before sunset (golden hour). This is because of the beautiful, soft and golden light at this time. The time of sunrise and sunset varies widely throughout the year. I can do sessions outside of golden hour if this time does not work for you.

Day in the Life sessions take place over the course of one day and therefore can start and end at any time you wish.

You don't cover my area. Can I travel to you?

Yes! I would love that. I will find a beautiful location within a 15 mile radius of Walton-on-Thames for us to meet and capture your family memories.

What should I wear?

Warm, earthy tones photograph beautifully. Floaty and natural fabrics work best and I would advise against logos and dark or overly bright colours as these can take away from the emotion of a subject or absorb rather than reflect light. In preparation I will share my style guide with you; this is a way to support you to choose colours that tone beautifully and to ensure that your images are truly timeless. You will likely have lots of pieces that will work beautifully in your wardrobe already but I promise the extra time considering how your outfits complement each other will be worth it when you see your gallery. I am on hand to guide you if you would like to chat anything through.

What is your photography style?
My style is emotive, artistic imagery which documents your story, My editing is incredibly warm, rich and moody with a dreamy soft feel. In order to get this feel you might find yourself getting somewhat muddy, sandy or wet but hopefully that sounds like a typical family day for you.
My children are shy / like lots of action / like snacks / dislike bees... The list is endless.
Every family is unique. and every person within each family has their own personality and fears. We will choose locations which suit your family. If anyone wants a snack we’ll stop for snacks. I have lots of fun games and tricks to help your children to show their true personality and will respect their space when they need it.
